As stated in another thread, check out the top guild battles in Observer Mode (B). Power Block is a great elite to interrupt healers. Energy Surge is great for groups. 80 dmg on multiple targets is great.
If you have a nice trigger finger, try loading up some more interrupts. Power Drain with Domination at 16 will make almost any class very mad. Losing 26 energy and not finishing a spell will kinda do that to you.

Edited. :P
Out of your three choices, I would pick EDenial. I usually prefer Shutdown though.

E surge is good for starter - its pretty easy to use and very effective mesmer build.
After u get hang of things u can modify ur build or try something completely different. As stated above - observer mode is great thing for getting ideas.
And btw - don't even try those "illusion slasher" builds...

Yeah totally dont use Illusionary Weaponry. Also, Mes and Sin are the two least noob friendly classes, I suggest another class.
Try getting mantra of recovery and spamming diversion with some inspiration for energy management... Domination and Illusion are two of the best attribute lines in the game.

Just find the guardian boon and countdown the aftercast during spikes to catch RoF and it is a nice skill, normally nbot worth it to use your elite skill for though.

I love Power Block - in PvE. 30 seconds is extremely long for a recharge.

Boonprot monk. Typically brings guardian and rof, protection skills, for a powerful heal and defence combined with divine boon.

If you're a novice at GW, mesmer is not a profession that I would recommend that you start with. Mesmer is a more "advanced" profession that proves a lot more useful after you have a firm grip on the mechanics of the game and all other professions.

As others have said Mesmer is more of a advanced proffesion and requires knowledge of the other proffesions,so you know who to shutdown or interupt.
